Though the Internet connects us, it also presents us with repetitive cycles of difficult news, misinformation, and messages that make us doubt our worth. You can’t eliminate all negativity from your online sphere, but you can work on curating newsfeeds that promote persistence, confidence, and mindfulness. I’m a big fan of supporting artists whose platforms are centered on helping people take better care of themselves. Here are a few that I particularly like! All of them are on Instagram, but many of them have additional social media accounts, stores, and websites as well.

1. @thelatestkate

Kate Allan is a complete gem who aims to help people through painful experiences with her colorful, sparkly animal illustrations. Each illustration, like the one above, pairs an animal with a message that is simple, but comforting. If you need a boost to help you get through a rough patch, Kate’s art is for you! Find her her on Tumblr, Facebook, and www.thelatestkate.art. She also has a wonderful morning newsletter that you can subscribe to on her website and a few books!

2. @rockinruksi

Rukmini Poddar draws out emotions, and you’ll probably find yourself captivated by the vulnerability in her illustrations. Check out her other Instagram account, @dearruksi, in which she posts drawings based on letters that people send her about their thoughts and feelings. She’s also a self-described “Enneagram enthusiast” if you’re interested in personality tests! Rukmini’s website is www.dearruksi.com.

3. @chibirdart

Adorable animal characters make Jacqueline’s art incredibly lovable. There’s no way not to smile at rotund birds, smiling penguins, and cats in raincoats! Find her on Facebook, Tumblr, Patreon, and at www.chibird.com.

4. @worrywellbeing

Ruby’s commitment to “colourful and honest illustrations,”—some of which send encouraging messages and some of which provide information on mental health challenges—is both admirable and informative. Many of her posts involve more words than art, but the words are organized artistically to make for a pleasant reading experience. I personally love floral designs and “bullet journal” aesthetics, so I’m a big fan of her style. Check out her Etsy store, which is linked in her bio!
